Positive Affirmations for You to Use the Week of January 30th – February 5th

Happy Sunday, friends!

I hope you had a good week, and that you (depending on where you live) didn’t get too effected by the cold and snow! I’m in Northern Virginia right now while I’m doing PHP, and our forecast for the weekend was pretty much “IDK. Could be anything.”, but luckily we didn’t get hit very hard. We just had a mixture of snow and rain that I had to drive in for the first time in years (I think. It’s possible I drove in the snow last year, but my memory is shot.). I know that my family and friends in New England got hit pretty hard. That’s one thing I like about Florida, the lack of blizzards that force you to exist in a frozen tundra.

But, we do have downpours unlike anything I’ve really ever seen in the afternoons of summer… almost every day. Driving in that gives me awful anxiety.

I made it through my first week of PHP! It was absolutely exhausting, but also really good I’m noticing that I’m a little less depressed, and that I’m able to recognize and be mindful of some of my unhealthy coping mechanisms. I’m still struggling, but I’m grateful for the small improvements I’ve seen. I’m hoping that this week, we’ll start tackling some medication changes (I had to get some tests done first) and hopefully I’ll see even more improvements.

Having my affirmations has been so helpful during this week, and every week. I hope they are for you, too.

When I share the weekly affirmations, I share them in the order that I personally will be using them (the first is for Sunday, the second is for Monday, the third is for Tuesday, etc.), but I really hope that you will take them, and use them however you need. What works for me might not work for you, and that’s totally okay. Take what you need, save some for a rainy day, and leave whatever doesn’t serve you.

I hope that you (and I!) remember to speak kindly to yourself this week, and take time for self care. You are worthy, you are enough, you deserve your own kindness.

Positive Affirmations for You to Use the Week of January 23rd-29th

Happy Sunday!

I hope that you had a good week, and made some time this weekend for self-care, because you deserve it.

This week was… rough. Personally.

I had my intake assessment for PHP on Tuesday, and then didn’t hear back from them until I called on Friday, just to discover my insurance had refused to cover it because “it wasn’t an emergency” and I’m out of state.

Luckily we called up my insurance and explained the situation (okay… my mom did it because I was a wreck) and they agreed to cover treatment. My first day is tomorrow. Send all the positive vibes.

My mental health hasn’t been good. I spent yesterday and the day before in bed. My depression is becoming heavier and heavier, and I’m really glad to be starting treatment soon.

It feels like I’m drowning, and I’m ready to get a floatation device.

Some things that have been helping me are cuddling my mom’s new dog, Sasha, reading rom-coms, watching Monk with my mom, keeping an attainable morning routine, and walking Sasha around the neighborhood. But honestly, there are days (*cough* yesterday *cough*) when doing any of those just aren’t possible.

And on those days, I hold on to self-compassion, and remember that I haven’t even started treatment yet. I’m sick right now, and I can’t expect myself to thrive every day.

I hope these affirmations help the way you speak to yourself, the way they help me speak to myself. I always put them in the order that I’ll be using them the upcoming week (1 is Sunday, 2 is Monday, 3 is Tuesday, etc.) but please use them in whatever order/way is best for you. Take what you need, and leave the rest.
