Positive Affirmations for You to Use the Week of March 20 -26th

Hello friends, internet acquaintances, and people I have yet to meet!

I hope this past week was good, and if it wasn’t, I hope that you’re proud of yourself for making it through! Hell yeah!

I’m really excited because last first was my first “good” week. I’ve made some decisions that make me more excited for and able to handle the idea of a future. Existing simply feels a little less overwhelming than it has lately.

Aaaand then yesterday (Sunday), I was depressed again. Because that’s gonna happen every once in a while when you struggle with *depression*.

But, I am proud of myself for not dwelling in it. I allowed myself to feel what I needed to feel, and to et myself rest and take it easy. And I think I’m able to feel better and do more because of that.

So this is your friendly reminder that a full range of emotions is healthy and normal, that rest is necessary and productive, and that bad days don’t undo the hard work you’ve done.

Also that I’m proud of you.

Advertisements

Because I am.

And sure, maybe that sounds weird. But I know how hard simply being a human can be, and you’re doing it! So I hope that the fact that someone is proud of and believes in you brings you some comfort when things get rough.

If you’re new around here, every week I share the affirmations I’ll be using that week. My goal is to share them every Sunday, but sometimes it’s on Monday, or Tuesday, or I’ll skip a week. While I love sharing them with you, my first priority is my mental health, and I post accordingly. If this is relatable to you, you should probably stick around.

Advertisements

I always share the affirmations in the order that I personally will be using them (1 is Sunday, 2 is Monday, 3 is Tuesday, etc.) but I urge you to use them in whatever works best for you. And if some affirmations don’t work for you, that’s fine! Your affirmation practice should first and foremost work best for you. Take what you need and leave the rest.

Sending good vibes and love for this week! The weather is starting to warm up in Northern Virginia, and it is absolutely thrilling. I hope it’s warming up for you, too!

But no matter what the weather looks like where you are, please remember that you are loved, wanted, and enough.

Positive Affirmations for You To Use the Week of March 13th – 19th

Hi friends, internet acquaintances, and strangers!

I hope this past week was a good one, and if it wasn’t, that you were able to show yourself some kindness.

And you did it! You made it through, and I’m so proud of you!

Advertisements

One of my favorite ways to show myself kindness when life isn’t is to practice positive affirmations, which is why I share them with you!

Advertisements

Most weeks on Sunday, I share what affirmations I’ll be using in the upcoming week. I always share the affirmations in the order that I’ll be using them (1 is Sunday, 2 is Monday, 3 is Tuesday, etc.), but the cool thing about affirmations is that there are endless ways to use them. My practice may not work for you, and that’s okay, good even! If you know what doesn’t work for you, you’re closer to knowing what does work for you.

In short, take what you need from what I share, and leave the rest.

Sending you lots of good vibes for this week, and I hope you surprise yourself with your strength, capability, and resilience!

  1. I get stronger every day.
  2. I am loved and appreciated by the people in my life.
  3. My body is the least interesting thing about me.
  4. It is not selfish to be kind to myself.
  5. Nothing is more important than my health.
  6. I can do hard things.
  7. I am going to be okay.

Hi friends, internet acquaintances, and strangers!

I apologize for not keeping up with my weekly affirmation posts. I’ve been focused on my mental health treatment lately, which I think we can all agree is a super important thing at this point in my life.

Advertisements

I’m finally feeling better, and am consistently feeling hopeful for the future, which is huge. Yeah, the future is overwhelming and scary… but I’m also excited for it. But with this comes clarity and I find myself wondering what decisions I have to make to put myself on the road to extended stability, which is also difficult and overwhelming. But, I’m extremely privileged to have an incredible support system that I know will support me no matter what decisions I make.

I’ve actually been feeling well enough to be consistent with my daily routines! I started a new daily journal called The Daily Zen yesterday, and I like it a lot so far (I have only done two days, but both prompts were great!). I’m working hard to get to where I want to be to live a life worth living.

Advertisements

If you’ve been here a while, you know that daily affirmations are a hugely important part of my daily routines. I use them while doing my daily hygiene, and journal them, though each person is different. I choose one affirmation a day to focus on, and at the beginning of each week, I share which affirmations I’ll be using that upcoming week.

I always share the affirmations in the order that I’ll be using them (1 is Sunday, 2 is Monday, 3 is Tuesday, etc.) but I encourage you to use them in whatever order and/or way works best for you. And you may find that not all the affirmations work for you! That’s okay! I share these every week with the hope that you take what you need, and leave the rest.

Have a great rest of your week, and I’ll see you on Sunday! No matter what you encounter, or what may happen, I hope you remember you are stronger and more capable than you know.

  1. I believe in myself and all that I am capable of.
  2. I do not resent myself for my mistakes.
  3. I choose to see the positive in life.
  4. I am falling in love with myself and my life.
  5. Difficult emotions always pass.
  6. I am confident that I have the resilience to get through anything that comes my way.
  7. I am okay as I am, and I can change.

Positive Affirmations for the Week of February 20th – 26th

Happy Sunday, Internet Friends and Acquaintances!

Fun fact, I’d chosen these affirmations and made these graphics for two weeks ago… but then a surprising plot twist occured.

Just over two weeks ago, I self-admitted myself to an Inpatient Psychiatric Hospital. I had been experiencing an increase of unsafe thoughts at night after PHP, and felt like I needed the extra support.

Part of me felt really ashamed about this. This was my 8th inpatient hospitalization for mental health since my first mental health episode 16 years ago. At first I felt like a failure – shouldn’t I be able to handle triggers and such better by now?

But, part of what was wrong was that my medication was not working the way it should. And part of me knew this. So I wasn’t able to function or use my coping skills the way I should. And that’s not my fault. I expressed this to my support system, and was actually making medication changes with my psychiatrist in PHP.

Advertisements

One of the best things about my choice to go inpatient was that I went to the hospital where my PHP was affiliated with, so I got to keep the psychiatrist I had begun working with. Being inpatient also meant that we could make more drastic medication changes quicker than if I were outpatient, because I was under constant supervision and had medical access 24/7.

When I woke up on my fifth day of hospitalization, I felt more like myself than I had in months. I had hope for the future, and the thoughts had begun to become quieter and less frequent.

Did I enjoy or want to go inpatient? No. But the undeniable truth is that I needed to. I’m safe again. I feel hopeful again. And I know that I’m going to be okay. The uncomfortable pillows and terrible food are worth that.

I want to write a bit more about my experience going inpatient (and have already on my Instagram!) so definitely keep a eye out.

Advertisements

Although, because I didn’t have access to my phone, or journal, or even google docs… it was a lot harder for me to keep up with my daily affirmations for myself. But again, it was worth it so I could be stabilized. That being said… I am so excited to get back to sharing affirmations with ya’ll (almost) every week!

Advertisements

When I share affirmations, I always put them in the order that I personally will be using them (1 is Sunday, 2 is Monday, 3 is Tuesday, etc.), but I encourage you to and hope that you will use them in whatever that means. If that means using all 7 every day, or mixing up the order, or only using a few… good! Take what you need, and leave the rest. Your affirmation practice isn’t about what I do, it’s about what works for you.

Have a great rest of the week, and I’ll see you next Sunday! Be well, and take good care of yourself – you’re worth it!

  1. I give myself the love I am worthy of.
  2. I am confident that I have the resilience to get through anything that comes my way.
  3. I can be kind and set healthy boundaries.
  4. I have faith in the person I am becoming.
  5. Asking for help does not make me a failure or a burden.
  6. I radiate love and self-confidence.
  7. Every day, I am closer to achieving my goals.

Positive Affirmations for You to Use the Week of January 30th – February 5th

Happy Sunday, friends!

I hope you had a good week, and that you (depending on where you live) didn’t get too effected by the cold and snow! I’m in Northern Virginia right now while I’m doing PHP, and our forecast for the weekend was pretty much “IDK. Could be anything.”, but luckily we didn’t get hit very hard. We just had a mixture of snow and rain that I had to drive in for the first time in years (I think. It’s possible I drove in the snow last year, but my memory is shot.). I know that my family and friends in New England got hit pretty hard. That’s one thing I like about Florida, the lack of blizzards that force you to exist in a frozen tundra.

But, we do have downpours unlike anything I’ve really ever seen in the afternoons of summer… almost every day. Driving in that gives me awful anxiety.

Advertisements

I made it through my first week of PHP! It was absolutely exhausting, but also really good I’m noticing that I’m a little less depressed, and that I’m able to recognize and be mindful of some of my unhealthy coping mechanisms. I’m still struggling, but I’m grateful for the small improvements I’ve seen. I’m hoping that this week, we’ll start tackling some medication changes (I had to get some tests done first) and hopefully I’ll see even more improvements.

Having my affirmations has been so helpful during this week, and every week. I hope they are for you, too.

When I share the weekly affirmations, I share them in the order that I personally will be using them (the first is for Sunday, the second is for Monday, the third is for Tuesday, etc.), but I really hope that you will take them, and use them however you need. What works for me might not work for you, and that’s totally okay. Take what you need, save some for a rainy day, and leave whatever doesn’t serve you.

I hope that you (and I!) remember to speak kindly to yourself this week, and take time for self care. You are worthy, you are enough, you deserve your own kindness.

  1. I am comfortable in my own skin.
  2. I embrace all that I am.
  3. I do the best I can, and it is enough.
  4. I trust that there are brighter and better days ahead.
  5. My anxiety is not what defines me or controls me.
  6. I am ready for whatever changes life brings me.
  7. I make room for who I am, and who I am becoming.

Positive Affirmations for You to Use the Week of January 23rd-29th

Happy Sunday!

I hope that you had a good week, and made some time this weekend for self-care, because you deserve it.

This week was… rough. Personally.

I had my intake assessment for PHP on Tuesday, and then didn’t hear back from them until I called on Friday, just to discover my insurance had refused to cover it because “it wasn’t an emergency” and I’m out of state.

Luckily we called up my insurance and explained the situation (okay… my mom did it because I was a wreck) and they agreed to cover treatment. My first day is tomorrow. Send all the positive vibes.

My mental health hasn’t been good. I spent yesterday and the day before in bed. My depression is becoming heavier and heavier, and I’m really glad to be starting treatment soon.

It feels like I’m drowning, and I’m ready to get a floatation device.

Some things that have been helping me are cuddling my mom’s new dog, Sasha, reading rom-coms, watching Monk with my mom, keeping an attainable morning routine, and walking Sasha around the neighborhood. But honestly, there are days (*cough* yesterday *cough*) when doing any of those just aren’t possible.

Advertisements

And on those days, I hold on to self-compassion, and remember that I haven’t even started treatment yet. I’m sick right now, and I can’t expect myself to thrive every day.

I hope these affirmations help the way you speak to yourself, the way they help me speak to myself. I always put them in the order that I’ll be using them the upcoming week (1 is Sunday, 2 is Monday, 3 is Tuesday, etc.) but please use them in whatever order/way is best for you. Take what you need, and leave the rest.

Advertisements

I hope you enjoy the last bit of the weekend, or if you don’t have weekends off (shout out to my fellow service workers!), I hope you prioritize finding time for self-care every day.

You are loved and worthy!

Positive Affirmations for the Week of January 16th – 22nd

Happy Sunday, friends (and acquaintances and strangers)!

Advertisements

I know it’s kinda funny/ironic that I missed the second week of 2022 after saying two weeks ago that it was one of my big goals for the year was to focus more on writing and my blog. But I promise, I had reason.

My mental health has really been suffering, and I was supposed to fly back to Florida after visiting my mom (and catching COVID… yikes!) or the Holidays, but my mom, therapist, and I noticed some signs that my mental health was at a place that (historically speaking for myself, of course) needs extra help to improve. So, I decided (with support from my therapist, family, and friends) to stay with my mom and self admit into PHP (Partial Hospitalization Program) at a local hospital.

Advertisements

I’ve done various PHPs over the years, and have always had a good experience and noticed great improvement after treatment PHP is a great option for those who are struggling with their mental health and need more than whatever their current treatment is, but don’t need inpatient treatment. It’s proactive, and is pretty much almost 40 hours a week. I’ll be going for 5-8 hours 5 days a week to begin with and have my intake assessment on Tuesday (send good vibes!). After I’ve been in the program for a few weeks, I’ll step down to IOP (Intensive Outpatient Program), which is around a couple hours a few days a week.

Advertisements

Since one of the major themes of this blog (and my life, haha) is mental health and wellness, I want to be honest about where I’m at right now. Everyone is telling me that they’re proud of me for asking for help and seeking treatment, but I have to be honest. There’s a part of me that feels ashamed and disappointed. Like, I’ve struggled with mental illness for over sixteen years, and have been treated for it for almost as long. Logically, I know that healing isn’t linear. That there will be ebbs in flows with my mental illness symptoms and management. And that needing extra help at times doesn’t define me or my journey.

I hope that you know that this applies to you, too. So if things are tough for you right now, I get it. You deserve support and to feel better.

But. I’m still trying to do my daily affirmations, because while they won’t cure my depression or anxiety or BPD, they do help the way I think about and speak to myself, which has a big impact on my mental health. That’s why I share my affirmations (almost) weekly, because I think that they’re an invaluable resource for mental wellness.

Advertisements

When I share them, I put them in the order that I (personally) will be using them, (the first is for Sunday, the second for Monday, the third for Tuesday, etc.) but I encourage you to use them in whatever order or way works best for you. Mix up the order, don’t use the ones that don’t serve you, pick ones from other weeks, practice multiple a day, etc. I am simply sharing my practice to encourage you to speak kindly to yourself, too.

Have a great week, and I’ll see you next time! You are always, always good enough.

  • I am here to accomplish amazing things, and I share my gifts with the world.
  • I take things one day at a time.
  • My voice matters.
  • I trust the process.
  • I accept myself completely.
  • All of my feelings are valid.
  • I am not ashamed of my nourishment or hunger.

Positive Affirmations for the Week of January 2nd – 8th.

Happy 2022, Friends!

Advertisements

We’ve made it through another year, and if you’re anything like me, 2021 was quite the doozy. You’ve probably noticed that I haven’t posted in a hot minute. My mental health hasn’t been great, and when I’m in that spot, it feels inauthentic to me to post on Instagram and my blog, especially posting affirmations that I’m struggling to practice or encouraging others to take care of their mental health when I’m struggling in this way.

But I had a really good conversation with my therapist, where she brought up the idea that maybe that’s when I most need to be working on my passions, working on the things I love, when I don’t believe it. And that maybe because I’m saying it in writing, it makes me believe it more.

I also lost focus of why I may some decisions, and what I want to do. I forgot that I took a job because I thought that it would allow me to focus more on myself and my mental health, and instead burnt myself out and had no energy for photoshoots, or blogging, or anything else that brought me joy. Instead of my job being a way to support myself and my life and my passions, work was my first, and honestly only priority.

My purpose and goals all revolved around work, and it became incredibly draining and saddening.

Advertisements

So, I decided that with the beginning of the new year, I’m gonna focus on my blog and social media and writing again. It really is the thing that I want to do with my life, and I want to focus my energy on that.

So, without further ado, here are the first weekly affirmations of 2022! I’m so hopeful for this New Year, and I hope you are too.

  1. My voice is worthy of being heard.
  2. I am grateful for the lessons I have learned throughout my life.
  3. My worth is not defined by my productivity.
  4. I don’t have to love my body to have respect for it.
  5. I choose to have a happy and fulfilling life.
  6. I have faith in the person I am becoming.
  7. I approach obstacles fearlessly.

Positive Affirmations for You to Use the Week of November 7th – 13th

Hi friends!

I hope you’ve had a good couple of weeks. The last month has been kind of rough for me, and I took a break from Instagram and blogging. Unfortunately, just over two weeks ago, we had to say goodbye to our beloved family pooch, Thecla. Thecla had been part of the family since I was sixteen, and I’m so grateful to have gotten to emerge into adulthood with my sweet girl. She was so loved and is dearly missed.

The time leading up to and following her passing was extremely difficult, as we knew that she was passing, but we didn’t know when exactly, so my anxiety was on high alert for a few weeks. I also of course was grieving Thecla’s loss following her death, and because of that, I was very overwhelmed and in survival mode. But, I’m starting to see the light and it’s getting a little easier to be alive again.

With that being said, I’m back to blogging and sharing weekly affirmations! Starting today! Yay!

*Most* Sundays, I share the affirmations on here (and on Instagram!) that I will be using for the upcoming work. I share them in the order that I will be using them (1 is Sunday, 2 is Monday, 3 is Tuesday, etc.) and then share them daily on my Instagram story. Of course, I hope that you will use them in whatever way works best for you, whatever that means to you!

I hope you make sure to take some time to rest and take care of yourself today, and I’ll see you next week!

You are worthy of your love and kindness!

  1. I trust in myself.
  2. My well-being is always a priority.
  3. I am going to be okay.
  4. I am growing.
  5. Not everyone will like me, and that’s okay.
  6. I always prioritize self-care.
  7. My worth is not dependent on the appearance or size of my body.

Positive Affirmations for You to Use the Week of October 3rd – 9th

Hi friends!

Advertisements

Happy October! Since I grew up in New England, this is one of my absolute favorite times of year. The changing leaves, flavors, activities, and movies are just a few reasons why! Now that I live in Florida… I don’t get to see the leaves as often (though I will be making a trip north in two weeks and will be able to take in allllll the fall foliage, which I am thrilled about.) and the activities and food just aren’t the same when the weather is warm.

Although I love this time of year, historically, this is also when my mental health starts to go downhill. With the changing weather, and shorter days, and less sun, and pressure of the holidays and having a “good fall” and “good winter”, and wanting to do more indoor activities (crocheting and reading were made for autumn days with candles!), it is easy for my mental health to decline.

Advertisements

I’ve accepted that entering another depressive episode soon is a real possibility, but I’m also doing everything I can to stay mentally healthy. Obviously using my skills helps, but it doesn’t guarantee that I won’t have another depressive episode.

One of the things I do every single day for my mental health is practice positive affirmations, and at the beginning of every week, I share what affirmations I’ll be using with you!

I always share them in the order that I’ll be using them (1 is Sunday, 2 is Monday, 3 is Tuesday, etc.) but I encourage you to use them in whatever order or way best serves your needs.

Advertisements

I hope you all have a great week, and remember to show yourself kindness.

  1. I am proud of all my hard work.
  2. I am not ashamed of my nourishment or hunger.
  3. I treat my body with kindness and gentleness.
  4. I am stronger than my bad days.
  5. I am open to change.
  6. Every day, in every way, I am growing.
  7. I give myself the compassion I give to others.
