Positive Affirmations for You to Use the Week of January 23rd-29th

Happy Sunday!

I hope that you had a good week, and made some time this weekend for self-care, because you deserve it.

This week was… rough. Personally.

I had my intake assessment for PHP on Tuesday, and then didn’t hear back from them until I called on Friday, just to discover my insurance had refused to cover it because “it wasn’t an emergency” and I’m out of state.

Luckily we called up my insurance and explained the situation (okay… my mom did it because I was a wreck) and they agreed to cover treatment. My first day is tomorrow. Send all the positive vibes.

My mental health hasn’t been good. I spent yesterday and the day before in bed. My depression is becoming heavier and heavier, and I’m really glad to be starting treatment soon.

It feels like I’m drowning, and I’m ready to get a floatation device.

Some things that have been helping me are cuddling my mom’s new dog, Sasha, reading rom-coms, watching Monk with my mom, keeping an attainable morning routine, and walking Sasha around the neighborhood. But honestly, there are days (*cough* yesterday *cough*) when doing any of those just aren’t possible.


And on those days, I hold on to self-compassion, and remember that I haven’t even started treatment yet. I’m sick right now, and I can’t expect myself to thrive every day.

I hope these affirmations help the way you speak to yourself, the way they help me speak to myself. I always put them in the order that I’ll be using them the upcoming week (1 is Sunday, 2 is Monday, 3 is Tuesday, etc.) but please use them in whatever order/way is best for you. Take what you need, and leave the rest.


I hope you enjoy the last bit of the weekend, or if you don’t have weekends off (shout out to my fellow service workers!), I hope you prioritize finding time for self-care every day.

Positive Affirmations for the Week of January 16th – 22nd

Happy Sunday, friends (and acquaintances and strangers)!


I know it’s kinda funny/ironic that I missed the second week of 2022 after saying two weeks ago that it was one of my big goals for the year was to focus more on writing and my blog. But I promise, I had reason.

My mental health has really been suffering, and I was supposed to fly back to Florida after visiting my mom (and catching COVID… yikes!) or the Holidays, but my mom, therapist, and I noticed some signs that my mental health was at a place that (historically speaking for myself, of course) needs extra help to improve. So, I decided (with support from my therapist, family, and friends) to stay with my mom and self admit into PHP (Partial Hospitalization Program) at a local hospital.


I’ve done various PHPs over the years, and have always had a good experience and noticed great improvement after treatment PHP is a great option for those who are struggling with their mental health and need more than whatever their current treatment is, but don’t need inpatient treatment. It’s proactive, and is pretty much almost 40 hours a week. I’ll be going for 5-8 hours 5 days a week to begin with and have my intake assessment on Tuesday (send good vibes!). After I’ve been in the program for a few weeks, I’ll step down to IOP (Intensive Outpatient Program), which is around a couple hours a few days a week.


Since one of the major themes of this blog (and my life, haha) is mental health and wellness, I want to be honest about where I’m at right now. Everyone is telling me that they’re proud of me for asking for help and seeking treatment, but I have to be honest. There’s a part of me that feels ashamed and disappointed. Like, I’ve struggled with mental illness for over sixteen years, and have been treated for it for almost as long. Logically, I know that healing isn’t linear. That there will be ebbs in flows with my mental illness symptoms and management. And that needing extra help at times doesn’t define me or my journey.

I hope that you know that this applies to you, too. So if things are tough for you right now, I get it. You deserve support and to feel better.

But. I’m still trying to do my daily affirmations, because while they won’t cure my depression or anxiety or BPD, they do help the way I think about and speak to myself, which has a big impact on my mental health. That’s why I share my affirmations (almost) weekly, because I think that they’re an invaluable resource for mental wellness.


When I share them, I put them in the order that I (personally) will be using them, (the first is for Sunday, the second for Monday, the third for Tuesday, etc.) but I encourage you to use them in whatever order or way works best for you. Mix up the order, don’t use the ones that don’t serve you, pick ones from other weeks, practice multiple a day, etc. I am simply sharing my practice to encourage you to speak kindly to yourself, too.

Positive Affirmations for the Week of January 2nd – 8th.

Happy 2022, Friends!


We’ve made it through another year, and if you’re anything like me, 2021 was quite the doozy. You’ve probably noticed that I haven’t posted in a hot minute. My mental health hasn’t been great, and when I’m in that spot, it feels inauthentic to me to post on Instagram and my blog, especially posting affirmations that I’m struggling to practice or encouraging others to take care of their mental health when I’m struggling in this way.

But I had a really good conversation with my therapist, where she brought up the idea that maybe that’s when I most need to be working on my passions, working on the things I love, when I don’t believe it. And that maybe because I’m saying it in writing, it makes me believe it more.

I also lost focus of why I may some decisions, and what I want to do. I forgot that I took a job because I thought that it would allow me to focus more on myself and my mental health, and instead burnt myself out and had no energy for photoshoots, or blogging, or anything else that brought me joy. Instead of my job being a way to support myself and my life and my passions, work was my first, and honestly only priority.

My purpose and goals all revolved around work, and it became incredibly draining and saddening.


So, I decided that with the beginning of the new year, I’m gonna focus on my blog and social media and writing again. It really is the thing that I want to do with my life, and I want to focus my energy on that.

So, without further ado, here are the first weekly affirmations of 2022! I’m so hopeful for this New Year, and I hope you are too.

Positive Affirmations for You to Use the Week of November 7th – 13th

Hi friends!

I hope you’ve had a good couple of weeks. The last month has been kind of rough for me, and I took a break from Instagram and blogging. Unfortunately, just over two weeks ago, we had to say goodbye to our beloved family pooch, Thecla. Thecla had been part of the family since I was sixteen, and I’m so grateful to have gotten to emerge into adulthood with my sweet girl. She was so loved and is dearly missed.

The time leading up to and following her passing was extremely difficult, as we knew that she was passing, but we didn’t know when exactly, so my anxiety was on high alert for a few weeks. I also of course was grieving Thecla’s loss following her death, and because of that, I was very overwhelmed and in survival mode. But, I’m starting to see the light and it’s getting a little easier to be alive again.

With that being said, I’m back to blogging and sharing weekly affirmations! Starting today! Yay!

Positive Affirmations for You to Use the Week of October 3rd – 9th

Hi friends!


Happy October! Since I grew up in New England, this is one of my absolute favorite times of year. The changing leaves, flavors, activities, and movies are just a few reasons why! Now that I live in Florida… I don’t get to see the leaves as often (though I will be making a trip north in two weeks and will be able to take in allllll the fall foliage, which I am thrilled about.) and the activities and food just aren’t the same when the weather is warm.

Although I love this time of year, historically, this is also when my mental health starts to go downhill. With the changing weather, and shorter days, and less sun, and pressure of the holidays and having a “good fall” and “good winter”, and wanting to do more indoor activities (crocheting and reading were made for autumn days with candles!), it is easy for my mental health to decline.


I’ve accepted that entering another depressive episode soon is a real possibility, but I’m also doing everything I can to stay mentally healthy. Obviously using my skills helps, but it doesn’t guarantee that I won’t have another depressive episode.

One of the things I do every single day for my mental health is practice positive affirmations, and at the beginning of every week, I share what affirmations I’ll be using with you!

I always share them in the order that I’ll be using them (1 is Sunday, 2 is Monday, 3 is Tuesday, etc.) but I encourage you to use them in whatever order or way best serves your needs.

I really enjoyed this book. It’s a fantastic introduction to gratitude practice and I loved the exercises, quotes, and art that was included.

Every time I’ve been in the hospital, or intensive therapy, expressing our gratitude has played a part in our treatment. Of course there’s therapy and medication management as well, but patients were encouraged to either say or write what we are grateful for. And when you’re in a place mentally where hospitalization or intensive therapy is necessary, finding and expressing is both extremely difficult (sometimes it feels impossible!), but also vital for healing.

I also try to practice gratitude every day. Part of my morning routine is writing three things that I’m grateful, and I try to do it again before going to bed.

This book definitely supplemented my existing practice, and helped me think outside the box in terms of all that I have to be grateful for!

Perfect for anyone who wants to begin a gratitude practice, but doesn’t know where to start.

When I first saw that this book was available on NetGalley, I immediately requested it. As someone who is also Neurodivergent (and follows a lot of Autistic content creators across several platforms), I have been very interested in the conversation surround Autism and Autistic people.

I am so grateful that I received the ARC, because this book was fantastic. It was educational, informative, and also gave me a lot to think about in regards to my own neurodivergency and internalized ableism.

The big takeaway I got from this book is that their is a lack of resources for Autistic people, and that lack of resources is harming not only Autistic people, but everyone. Autistic people need support just like everyone else, and the lack of that is hurting Autistic people, creating a stigma against Autism, creating stereotypes about Autistic people, and denying society of the gifts and talents that each Autistic person has to give the world.

Perfect for people who know (or don’t know and are just finding out!) that you don’t support Autism Speaks, and get weird vibes from the stereotypical “Autism Mom”.

Okay, I absolutely LOVED this book. It pretty much opened with a spicy AF scene between our love interests (Brinkley and Mark… hot damn), and then evolves into an enemies to lovers story.

Like are you kidding me??? Can a romance book get anymore perfect???

Oh, yeah. Mark is a dang professor.

I enjoyed Brinkley’s hijinks as a professional heartbreaker. Homegirl makes bank to take down icky men? I know exactly what I want to do when I grow up.

Mark was an absolute sweetheart, the spice had me fanning myself (good thing I was reading in the pool, TBH.), and honestly, the sexual tension between Mark and Brinkley when they were enemies was just… wow. I have never wanted two characters to bang more than the two of them.

That might be a lie, I want all my romance characters to bang.

Perfect for readers who can’t get enough spice or enemies to lovers in their romance books.

This book is the reason I have anxiety.


Okay, no it’s not. But it definitely didn’t help.

This book was really hard for me to read. I’m usually not a Thriller reader, but I decided to go out of my comfort zone and read this one. My verdict?

Heck, man. I don’t know. The ending pissed me off. I like my endings wrapped with some closure as a nice little bow, and this ending pretty much felt like a brick thrown at me instead.

I even pretty much predicted the ending. Sort of. It’s hard to explain without spoiling it. But I still was left feeling angry and disapointed in the ending.

The rest of the book was good. Slow at times. But once the action finally really started, I couldn’t put it down. Which is another reason why the ending really bothered me.

I still want to try to read Thrillers and find one I like. This one was good, but not really for me.

Perfect for readers who love drama and secrets of the filthy rich.
